A little madness · A lot of imagination

Inside Evil Lab Studios

Somewhere between a writer's desk, a mad scientist's laboratory, and a radio station that shouldn't exist.

The Laboratory of Imagination

Evil Lab Studios is an independent creative endeavor devoted to original storytelling, worldbuilding, tabletop gaming, music, artwork, and the occasional experiment that probably should have stayed in the basement.

We don't want worlds that exist only as backgrounds. We want places with histories, characters with ambitions, monsters with personalities, and stories that continue when nobody is watching.

Meet the creator: The Philosopher Castor

Every Laboratory Needs a Madman

Every strange world begins with someone asking a question. What makes a monster? What separates a hero from a villain? What happens to the forgotten and the things that slip through the cracks of ordinary life?

The Philosopher Castor is an author, philosopher, worldbuilder, and game creator fascinated by gothic horror, supernatural noir, detective fiction, mythology, and the peculiar beauty found in life's darker corners.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, and raised for part of his life on an Arkansas farm, Castor earned a bachelor's degree in Game Programming and Development from Southern New Hampshire University.

Through Evil Lab Studios, he develops fiction, tabletop games, original music, art, and interactive experiences. His guiding belief: a world should feel lived in, and even the monsters deserve stories worth hearing.

When he isn't writing or inventing a new game system, he's probably finding a fresh reason to expand the laboratory. Unfortunately, nobody has figured out how to stop him.

From the original Laboratory Journal · October 20, 2026

Welcome, Curious Visitor

Evil Lab Studios is an independent creative laboratory. That sounds respectable until you realize the laboratory contains imaginary cities, suspicious radio transmissions, tabletop rules, unfinished manuscripts, and at least one experiment that keeps asking for a larger budget.

Why a Laboratory?

Because we do not make only one kind of thing. A story might become a game. A character might inspire a song. A city might grow its own history, neighborhoods, legends, and terrible little jokes. The laboratory gives all of those ideas a place to meet.

The Madman Behind It

The Philosopher Castor is the author, worldbuilder, and chief instigator. He has spent decades returning to the same strange questions: Who belongs? What makes someone monstrous? What happens to the people and places that the world forgets? Those questions are part of the foundation of Grimmstone.

What You'll Find Here

This journal will document progress rather than pretend everything is already finished. Expect writing updates, RPG playtesting notes, music announcements, glimpses of artwork, and occasional reflections on the creative process.

One Last Warning

The doors are open. The experiments are underway. Please avoid the third door on the left. It wasn't there yesterday.
